December 2011

Wishing all our family, friends and colleagues the very best for Christmas and a safe and properous New Year.

November 2011

On 11 November, our mare Lasswade Pamela was scanned and tested positive after being artificially inseminated with imported semen from French Stallion, Tom de Prainville. Pictured is our Vet, Susanne Brundell of Equivet Australia and assisted by David Shaw. Pamela is the very first Percheron in Australia to be inseminated with imported French Percheron semen.

On the 2 November, we welcomed the 2nd of our 2011 foals, a colt, Ballara Moët by Lasswade Beaufort and out of Lasswade Twinkle.

We would like to thank Helen and Pat Trotter of Misty Ridge Percherons in Bellangy NSW for entrusting us with Daniki Diamond and Le Roi. This incredible young mare and amazing black colt are exciting new additions to our ever growing herd and we look forward to showing both these horses in 2012.

October 2011
The second shipment of frozen for Oscar 566 and Terkasso du Vairais has finally arrived from France!

September 2011
We are very pleased to announce that the first shipment of frozen semen has finally arrived in Australia from France after going through a very long importation process and all the red tape that went with this endeavour.

The second shipment of semen will be arriving soon and we will be putting some of this semen to three of our purebred mares this breeding season.

We would like to thank Elwyn Park of the Kamilaroi Percheron Stud and Fiona Sheehy of Jotenheim Percherons for allowing us to take part in this historical venture.

We would also like to thank Catherine Manceau and Virginia Kouyoumdjian of the Societe Hippique Percheronne de France, Sylvie Martz of Elevage de Percherons Du Grand Prainville for Tom de Prainville and the private owners of the magnificent stallions, Oscar 566 and Terkasso du Vairais for making all this possible.

January 2011
We welcomed our first 2011 purebred foal, Ballara Elegante (Elle), out of Lasswade Pamela and JP Commanders Starship (imp). Elle is an excellent representation of what they are currently producing in Europe by crossing North American Percherons with French Percherons.

We look forward to showing this magnificent filly in the 2012 show season.

October 2010
Our second foal of the season is a spectacular black Percheron Warmblood colt with lots of chrome, who we have named Ballara Armande, Manny for short. Manny will defintely be a show stopper in the Hunter Ring.

September 2010
The foaling season is upon us and Ballara Farm has already welcomed its first foal by Coldstream Don Juan (De Niro), a gorgeous black Percheron Warmblood colt with white star and snipe out of Lasswade Silver Bow who we have named Lamarr.

We are still awaiting another Percheron Warmblood foal out of Olney Park Eve and a purebred Percheron from Lasswade Pamela and JP Commanders Starship (imp).

See our Progeny page for new foal pictures and videos.

June 2010
Kalbar Show - Lasswade Pamela

March 2010
Lasswade Pamela is now confirmed pregnant to JP Commanders Starship.

February 2010

With two of our mares now pregnant from frozen semen, we are now focusing our attention on getting Lasswade Pamela artifically inseminated to Purebred Percheron Stallion, JP Commanders Starship of the Carbery Estate Percheron Stud.

This wonderful stallion is out of Stardust Royal Command and Docs Priscilla and carries some of America's most sought after bloodlines.

We will be keeping our fingers crossed for another black foal.

Hercules also made his show debut at the Stanthorpe Show winning 1st Heavy Horse Colt then Reserve Champion Heavy Horse. Hercules will be broken to chains/harness and saddle later in the year.

November 2009
Olney Park Eve, Lasswade Silver Rose & Lasswade Silver Bow have all been scanned and two of our mares are now in foal to Dressage Warmblood Stallion, Coldstream Don Juan.

October 2009
We would like to thank Mrs Elwyn Park of the Kamilaroi Stud in Jackson for entrusting us with Kamilaroi Hercules.

Hercules comes from some of the finest Percheron lineages in Australia and we are looking forward to showing Hercules during the 2010 Show Season.

Three of our mares have also come back from Equivet - Wilson's Veterinary Practice at Southbrook, near Toowoomba. They've been artificially inseminated from frozen semen from the Black Coldstream Stallion, Coldstream Don Juan. Silver Bow is the first to be pregnacy tested so we're hoping she will be in foal. Olney Park Eve and Silver Rose are due to go back in two weeks for their first scan.

September 2009
We would like to thank the Lasswade Percheron Stud for entrusting us with Lasswade Pamela. Pamela is a lovely purebred mare with a beautiful, quiet nature, who in her day has won many Championships, and been Dam to many wonderful grey and black foals. Pamela will be one of a few foundation mares that will form our breeding programme.

August 2009
In February this year, we had a custom made Karakar Warmblood Horse Float built by Toowoomba Karakar who did a fantastic job. Only recently though, did we decide to add some custom decals to reflect our stud. We can thank Wayne Boustead of Stickerart.com.au for helping us to create some wonderful decals to show off our stud name. Click here to check out Wayne's Blog and more photos of the horse float.

May 2009
We would like to welcome home two of our future broodmares, "Olney Park Eve" and "Lasswade Silver Bow".

A big thank you to Katy Driver of Caboonbah Clydesdales and Judy Drews for entrusting us with these wonderful mares. Eve is green broke but has done some long rein work and has the most amazing temperament. Lasswade Silver Bow has been broken to saddle and harness and a few years ago was part of a team of three horses which pulled a gypsy wagon to raise money for Camp Quality - "Kids Living with Cancer". Silver Bow is also half sister to Silver Rose, our other broodmare.

April 2009
There were no gardens as such around the house so we're gradually putting in some gardens as time permits. We've planted some Ornamental Pears and Red-leaf Photinia Hedges in the front entrance and later on we'll plant a very long hedge of English Box along the rear house paddock fence. We have a love for English gardens and plan to add as many English trees that will grow in our sandy loam soil.

March 2009
Since purchasing the property in November 2008, we have spent most of the time cleaning up the house paddock and yards. We knocked down quite a bit of scrubby regrowth and trimmed a number of trees around the house before putting in the horse yards.

We were very fortunate to have found Anthony and Trudy Freeman of Freeman Fencing & Ivy Bank Performance Horses who have erected around 780 metres of round, split post and cattle rail, and barbed wire fencing to stage one of our horse paddocks. So if you're looking for 'perfection plus' in horse fencing, Freeman Fencing is the way to go.

The bore has been pulled twice and we've replaced all the old pipes and rods, top and bottom pumps so we now have an excellent supply of water for stock.

We have future plans to fence the back paddock into five smaller paddocks, erect some stables, a dressage arena, round yard, vet check and wash bays, when time and money allows.
